You're ready for these COVID-19 matters to come to an end. She has definitely eroded her welcome! But for some reason, the virus doesn't seem to respect my feelings.
Instead, we are still plagued by problems, difficulties, difficult decisions, financial stress, loneliness, disease and death, all of which are part of this epidemic.
So what do we do now? For those of us trying to follow Jesus, what does it mean to continue following Jesus through this seemingly never-ending trash for a year?
Let's remember to look at Jesus.
Once in the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus was asked to limit everything in the Bible - the full meaning and purpose of life - to just one thing. And Jesus says, we must love God with all our hearts, souls, and minds. We have to love our neighbor as ourselves. Everything in the Bible goes back to this. Everything that God requires of us comes to this. This is what we were created for: the love of God and the love of our neighbor, even in an epidemic!
What does God's love look like during this time? Well, if you love someone, you spend time with them. So let's spend time with God. We can do this through prayer - the kind in which we speak and the kind in which we listen in silence. We can do this by reading our scriptures - so we can better understand what it means to follow Jesus.
Part of loving God means loving our relatives. How do we love our neighbors? Maybe loving our neighbors means checking them out. Contact them. Maybe you have something you can share with them? This is a great way to love God - by activating our love for neighbor. Or maybe what they really need is just someone to talk to or pray with on the phone. This could be a lonely time. Let's remind our neighbors that they are loved and taken care of
One of the ways that our churches throughout the Beatrice community have worked for the love of our neighbors is to meet their material needs. Our food store in the city has been forced to close due to exposure to the virus. Where will people get the aid and food they desperately need?
So community organizations, churches, and all kinds of people came together. We set up a food buffer at the YMCA. We asked people to bring food and donate money, and the donations from our community were so generous! In a difficult time where there are so many disagreements and reasons to break up and do ours, we have seen our community come together to love our neighbors.

We hope that you will use this time as an opportunity to spread the love of Christ through your words and actions, so that we can see the kingdom of God coming and God's will here in our lives - here in our community of Beatrice - as we continue to grow in our faith and follow in the footsteps of Jesus.
